The book „The First Phase of the Eclipse” ( original title: ,,Pierwsza faza zaćmienia”) by Agata Polte is a romance novel intended for adult readers. It was published on March 27, 2024. That’s almost a year ago, and I have found out about its existence recently.  

„The First Phase of the Eclipse” is the first volume of the Carmody Family series, which tells the story of the perfectly planned life of the twenty-four-year-old witch Aislinn, who, as the youngest of the siblings, boldly and without any obstacles follows her own path. She plans to become the protector of her queen who is also her older sister.  

However, what kind of life would it be if it didn’t suddenly turn out that the perfect plan has its own plan? 

Things get complicated when witches start dying in the area. Aislinn and the guards are looking for a way to save more lives when an unexpected help comes from the vampire lord Renan Ward, who makes the royal family an offer they can’t refuse. Aislinn has no sympathy for the vampire king, but she didn’t expect that she would need him more than she thought. Especially when the solar eclipse phase is approaching, when the sun goes out like the next witches. Will the initial reluctance turn into something else? Something the witch princess didn’t even dare to think about? And will it be possible to save more lives? 

Reading this book was a fantastic experience for me. I had a great time with it and what’s more I experienced everything just like the main character. This was an incredibly absorbing read that took me less than two days. The book is beautiful both in terms of content and appearance; the cover and edges reflect the atmosphere of the entire book very well.  

My rating is 8/10 for the whole thing. A truly amazing book that will surely appeal to many fantasy and romance readers. I highly  recommend it!
