World Music Day

Today I would like to tell you about a  special day that is World Music Day, which is celebrated on June 21.

For many people, music is the „soundtrack1 of their lives”. They associate2, for example their first kiss, childhood, unforgettable parties with friends or vacations with specific songs. Moreover, music performs a multitude of functions – it comforts in sad moments, moves you, motivates you to work or train, or just simply makes your time more measurable.

A human  is able to survive without music, but what kind of life would that be? So no wonder that music has its own holiday. What a holiday it is! World Music Day3 promotes the music, its kinds and importance.  That is why, concerts focus on different genres4: from classical music, sung poetry to jazz, rock and electronic music. Owing to this festival, we have an opportunity5 to attend concerts, have fun together but, above all, it is meant to encourage6 musicians to express themselves spontaneously7 on city streets and in public places. Music brings people together. No matter their age, origin, religion or social status. That’s why, this holiday is an international event, celebrated in more than 300 cities, 100 countries and on 5 continents. In France, the Fête de la Musique is one of the most important cultural events where the entire country turns into one big music scene. It is one of two days of the year (the other is December 31) on which there is no quiet hours8, and musicians can play in the street till early in the morning without being worried about a ticket fine9 from any lawmen10

I would like to hear from you what kind of music you like.

Stay tuned!
