Reading books – my passion

Welcome everyone! Today I would like to tell you about my passion for books. Do you know how many advantages they have?
I have been reading from an early age. I have always been fascinated by the world and the universe around us. Obtaining a library card in primary school gave me free access to its resources allowing me to borrow books on interesting topics. For many years I also participated in the „Summer with the library” campaign, during which I discussed books I had read, painted pictures and even played board games with other children. In this way, I gained valuable experience and built nice relationships with others which increased my self-confidence.
Moreover, when I was a teenager, I decided to try something new and explore literary genres that I didn’t know. I became interested in fantasy books, which I gave up after some time. They seemed boring, predictable and not thought-provoking. At the same time, I was also intrigued by crime novels, especially written by authors such as Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie. An interesting plot and unique, memorable main characters made each of them a page – turner. To this day, along with popular science literature, it remains my favorite book genre.

Currently, when I’m an adult, I have less time for reading books because of studying for exams, student internships and attending scientific conferences. However, I try to read at least a few pages a day in my spare time. That’s why I’m feeling downcast hearing about the constantly decreasing level of reading in Poland.
Nowadays, people don’t remember how many advantages books have. Engaging reading can help you understand other people’s motivations, enrich vocabulary, stimulate creativity or even improve memory and analytical skills. It’s also a great way to broaden your horizons and relax after an exhausting day.
