If you, like me, love romantic films, but with a non-standard story, I have something special for you. Discover the romantic story of the early 1940s set in North Carolina. „The Notebook” directed by Nick Cassavetes, based on1 the best-selling novel of the same title by Nicholas Sparks is a classic tearjerker2.

Two residents3 of a nursing home, Noah and Allie, spend their time reading a diary4 in which a story of a great love is described. It turns out that she suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, and as a part of the therapy to restore5 her memory, he reads fragments of the book to her in every free moment. Suddenly, the story moves to the characters’ youth. Noah meets Allie at an amusement park6 and falls in love with her at first sight, but she is not interested in him because she thinks he is stupid. However, after some time, Allie discovers that Noah is her soul mate. They experience a wonderful holiday together filled with love and madness7

A young couple is brutally separated because the girl’s parents do not agree to a relationship with a boy with no prospects and Allie goes away to study. Being apart, they try to live without each other but they think about each other all the time. He writes her letters every day which do not arrive and  she does not want to marry someone else. Despite a war, chaos, fights and betrayals, true love wins.

The film’s plot is wonderful and suspense-building8. The actors deserve praise. Especially the young actors (Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams) playing the main roles showed off their skills. All this combined with the technical values of the film make the film very pleasant to watch and this is not hindered by the fact that it is quite long.  A beautifully told story moves you and makes you think, analyze your own life and personal feelings.

I recommend this film to anyone who likes to cry from emotions sometimes and I’m sure it will touch your hearts.
