Let’s celebrate Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day, the day of lovers, is here! This holiday has been celebrated in our part of the world since the Middle Ages, although it only became popular in Poland in the late 1990s.

It’s hard to miss this date in the calendar and we owe it to St. Valentine of Rome, the patron of all lovers. At the beginning of February, there are advertisements and articles everywhere related to the day of love. In supermarkets, at the very entrance, we notice products with a red color: hearts, greeting cards, chocolate boxes, bouquets of flowers, etc. Shop windows are also decorated with all kinds of decorations in the color of love. In addition, there are many promotions and discounts on the occasion of Valentine’s Day.

Valentine’s Day is a time when we especially appreciate our other halves. Many people consider this holiday unnecessary and say that love should be shown every day, not just on this particular holiday. However, I believe that this is a special day that can be spent differently than usual. It is also a nice opportunity to surprise your other half with an exquisite dinner or you can take her or him on a trip.

Singles usually don’t like Valentine’s Day. On this day you can see couples in love everywhere, and most places are crowded. It may be a good idea to meet friends who are also single on this day, or spend Valentine’s Day with people equally close to us, e.g. parents, grandparents or best friends. After all, the day of love is the perfect time to confess our feelings to the people who are the most important to us.
