Halloween

Halloween is one of the most recognizable holidays in the world. This day is celebrated annually on October 31st. Nowadays Halloween is mainly a fun holiday, as we associate it with pumpkins or scary decorations. Children go from house to house shouting „Trick or Treat!”, while adults and young people organize costume parties where they dress up in scary outfits. Houses are decorated with pumpkins, fake spiders, and ghosts to make them look haunted.

Where Does Halloween Come From?

Halloween was first celebrated 2,000 years ago. The holiday originates from the Celtic festival of Samhain, where it was believed that Samhain was the day of the year when the boundary between our world and the spirit world blurred. This kingdom of the dead offered an easy way back to the dead.

Do we celebrate Halloween in Poland?

Halloween is not a traditional holiday in Poland, but it is becoming increasingly popular every year, especially among young people. Many schools organize themed games, such as competitions for the scariest costume. Even though some people think that this holiday is not part of our culture, many others treat it simply as a good opportunity to have fun together.
