Cycling – my passion

Bicycles have been my hobby for the few years. In the past I used to be a professional cyclist and rode a professional bike for 8 years  all over Poland and other countries. I went to school specializing in cycling for 3 years. Unfortunately, in 2021 I had two accidents in which I broke my arms.

The first accident was more serious because the fracture was not usual, my elbow was  turned at a 45-degree angle. Unfortunately, during the surgery, the bone under my elbow broke and  the doctors only noticed it after a week and I had to  have one more surgery. I had been  recovering for about 4 months and it was hard for me to get back into shape, but when I managed to be fit again, I had another accident in which my wrist popped out when I fell. Back then it was impossible to get back into shape; it was too long a period without training.

I miss the adrenaline that cycling gave me. I still ride a bike, but as an amateur rather than a professional. Since then, I have been occupying myself in small bicycle services in my garage when I am home. I assemble bikes for myself and friends for fun. Bikes are my passion. The most important element when cycling is a helmet which has saved my life more than once.

For some people, a bike is just two wheels, a frame and equipment. For people like me, those taking it even more seriously and professionally,  it was a struggle to cycle with the weight of the bike and other professional equipment. In other cases, the fight against wind and time, aerodynamics, the position in the battle against time is the most important. I have ridden many gravel, road, time and sprint bikes (for track riding). These bikes are very expensive, ranging from EUR 2,000 to even EUR 20,000. The shoes I rode in were made of carbon, just like the entire bike and the wheels to make it very light.

Tidbit of news:  The lightest bicycles are sprint bikes because they have no brakes or gear change. They consist of  a bare frame, saddle, handlebar, wheels with one small gear and a large gear in the front.
