A little bit about Star Wars and why I like it
Star Wars in my favorite franchise. No matter if it is a book, a comic, a movie or a TV series I dig1 it. My love for this franchise started when “The Clone Wars” premiered on Cartoon Network back in 2009. Why was I so hooked2? Basically, it was a link between 2 prequel movies, “Attack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith.” In AotC the conflict known as Clone Wars begun. This idea was originally just a throwaway3 in the first Star Wars movie, but Lucas decided to revisit it and he used it in the prequel saga. In a TV series it was expended4 even more.
In the show we can see a big variety5 of events. From huge battles, local skirmishes6 to episodes focused on politics. The latter7 was always a big part of prequels. This continues on “The Clone Wars.” We can see how the future Emperor gained his power8 and how he played both sides of the conflict.
The show also answers the biggest flaw9 of the prequels. If you only watched movies, you may not understand why Anakin turned to the dark side. For many it felt rushed10 and didn’t match with what we knew then about him. In the show it was shown that it wasn’t just a moment, it was a lenghty11 process that lasted the entire12 war for over three years.
“The Clone Wars” also introduced a lot of new characters. The biggest ones are Ahsoka Tano and Clone Captain Rex, Anakin’s padawan and the leader of Anakin’s 501st legion respectively. Ahsoka, loved and appreciated by many fans, started as an overconfident kid, then as the show went, she grew up. Her skills started to match her confidence and she learned how to be a true leader. Unlike Rey in sequel movies, everything with Ahsoka felt earned13.
Rex was one of main reasons why clones are so loved now. He showed viewers that they aren’t just numbers (Every clone had an identification number, for example, Rex was CC-7567). New characters combined with fan favorites from the prequels created a show that lasts in people’s memory.
This was just a short review. I might dive in14 it deeper later if I am ever creative enough to do such a thing. Because, trust me, there are a lot of things that I skipped15 which are worth explaining or mentioning.
